Here to provide hope.

Cancer Hope Network was the first in the nation to provide free one-on-one emotional peer support for adult cancer patients and their loved ones. For more than 40 years, we’ve provided connections and resources to more than 50,000 individuals facing cancer. By providing emotional support, practical advice, and effective coping methods, our goal is to inspire hope, and to help create a world in which no one faces cancer alone.

Who We Are

Navigating a cancer journey is hard. Connecting with someone who understands is easy. Cancer Hope Network offers personalized one-on-one peer support for cancer patients and caregivers with trained Peer Mentor survivors who’ve been through their own cancer experience.

Our program is an important part of a whole-person, patient-centered approach to cancer care and is a pathway to hope that is available at any point in a cancer journey.

Peer Mentor Volunteers and Our Matching Process:

Our nearly 500 Peer Mentor volunteers have faced more than 98% of the cancers that will be diagnosed this year. Our survivor and caregiver mentors live in 36 states (plus Canada). They range in age from 19 to 94 and speak 15 languages. As a result, we go beyond diagnosis and treatment plan when considering matches so each Peer Mentor volunteer can provide individualized support based on each person’s greatest needs.

Our Peer Mentor volunteers provide practical advice from the perspective of someone who has walked their own cancer path. They are at least one-year post-treatment or successfully undergoing maintenance therapies and offer support from diagnosis, through treatment, and into post-treatment survivorship.

Connections between clients and volunteers may be based on diagnosis and treatment, as well as the mental, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual needs, individual lifestyle choices, and other personal circumstances of the client.

All volunteer and client matches are overseen from beginning to end by a team of healthcare and social work professionals. The Programs Team trains Peer Mentor survivors and helps clients find additional resources. They collaborate with healthcare and nonprofit professionals to provide seamless care for patients, survivors, and their families.
